If you’re traveling to Goa in Monsoon then you’ll be disappointed to know that all the beach related activities are closed during this season and this is also off season there. But Off-season means cheaper flight tickets and hotels. Also, you’ll find many Indian tourists as well.
Monsoon doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy in Goa. There is another Goa beyond the beaches which have the Waterfalls, Rivers, Green Paddy fields and National parks.
I’ve been to Goa in Monsoon and I like to share what you can do in Goa during Monsoon.
Bike Trip to Chorla Ghat
The Chorla Ghat is located at the elevation of 800 meters under Western Ghat ranges. The Ghat is 65 KM away from Calangute. You can take a bike trip there where you can enjoy many small waterfalls, beautiful forest covered in the clouds and Vazira Shakira Waterfall.

River Rafting
The White River Rafting is recently started in Goa to attract more tourist in Goa during Monsoon. A raft, the rapids and the stunning forested wilderness of the Mhadei Wildlife Sanctuary is a perfect monsoon getaway. The river rafting facility will be available from July to October 2016 subject to availability of rapids and adequate water currents, and suitable weather conditions. There will be two trips beginning at 9.30 am and 2.30 pm every day. The rafting activity is open to both adults and children above 12 years.
The safety equipment will be provided at the venue. You’ve to drive to Valpoi in North Goa. You can book the tickets online at Goa Tourism Website.
Arvalem Cave & Harvalem Waterfall
Harvalem Waterfall is another beautiful place you should visit in Monsoon. The water falls from a height of 50 meters and provides the very scenic view from the forest around. The govt developed a park from which the view of the waterfall can be cherished but make sure you’ve rain sheet as during the monsoon the flow of the waterfall is very high and you’ll get the vapors on you.
Another designation near the waterfall, you can visit Arvalem Cave, a small temple like structure made from carving the rock.
You can plan this trip with River rafting, it’s on the same route if you’re taking Bicholim Road.
Beautiful View from Fort
There are two-three forts in Goa where you can spend time and enjoy the beautiful scenic green view. Chopara, Aguda and Corjuem Fort is many visits in Monsoon. Chopara and Aguda are the Calangute area where Corjuem Fort is near the Aldona Village surrounded by green paddy field.
You’ll find tourist at Chopara & Aguda but Corjuem fort is pretty much dead. So enjoy the peaceful time there at Corjuem Fort.
Other Waterfalls
Apart from Dudhsagar, Harvalem & Vazira Shakira Waterfall, there is two more waterfall in Goa called Tambdi Surla Waterfall & Kuskem Waterfall near Cotigoa Wildlife sanctuary.
Celebrate Sao Joao Festival
If you’re in Goa in June month then you can participate in Sao Joao festival the most popular monsoon festivals in Goa. Sao Joao is a traditional Goan festival celebrated on 24th June every year. This festival adds to the charm of the monsoons where Goans deck up in colorful costumes, wear fruit and flower laden wreaths called kopel on their heads, move in processions, partake in floats and last but not the least, splash into wells overflowing with rain water.
