Wadi Bani Khalid (canyon) is an oasis and one of the most popular picnic destination in Oman. This place is very popular among adventure seekers and families looking to enjoy the weekends. In Wadi Bani Khalid, you’ll find rocks, crystal clear blue pools, waterfalls, caves and big mountains. It is accessible by car and suitable for all age group people to enjoy.
It is about 200 km away from Muscat, the capital of Oman. Less crowded on weekends Friday/Saturday so if possible avoid on these days. The Wadi is actually a big place and you’ve to plan first before exploring the area, Muqli is famous for large swimming pool, small cave network, Al Hayer is famous for trekking related activities and Bidah village this is another trekking place.
Muqli has fresh deep blue water flow with shades of palm tree round the year. This place is mostly crowded. If you’re going inside the cave, then you need a flashlight. And also it’s very humid and bad inside the cave.
The best way to enjoy this wadi is reach early morning before 9 and explore various caves and climb on rocks. Take a dip in fresh water pond to get yourself relax. Carry your packed brunch and enjoy near water stream. There is also one basic restaurant to get some snacks and tea.
